The man accused of mailing bombs to prominent Democrats, including Sen. Cory Booker, may have also considered targeting Booker’s fellow Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez.
At a campaign stop in Bloomfield this morning, Menendez said Capitol Police notified him that accused bomber Cesar Savoc had Googled the location of Menendez’s offices.
The senator has two district offices, one in Newark and one in South Jersey.
Menendez said that authorities found the searches while examining Savoc’s computer after his arrest on Friday.
Menendez said, “I change nothing personally. I'm not going to be intimidated by anyone that's the ultimate action of those who do these things. But our offices in terms of handling mail have gone - we have always had a procedure, but we have reviewed those procedures we've had the postal inspectors in to talk about exactly how to be cognizant of suspicious packages.”
There is no evidence a bomb was actually sent to Menendez.
Savoc is accused of mailing 14 improvised explosives to former President Barack Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, actor Robert DeNiro, and CNN, among others.
Law enforcement officials told CNN that Savoc had a list with over 100 additional targets on it.
