A mother from New Jersey is being called a hero for helping to thwart a potential school shooting plot several states away.
Lumberton resident Koeberle Bull says she received a Facebook message that she found threatening. Bull found that the man who allegedly sent the message, 20-year-old Dylan Jarrell, lives in Kentucky, so she contacted state police there.
Police officers tracked Jarrell to his home and say they were shocked by what they found.
“A firearm, over 200 rounds of ammunition, a Kevlar vest and a detailed plan of attack were also discovered,” said Kentucky State Police Sgt. Josh Lawson.
Police say the attack was imminent. They say that Jarrell had plans to attack two different schools in Kentucky and that they stopped him in his driveway about 15 minutes before he was allegedly planning on carrying out his attack.
Authorities credit Bull for alerting them about Jarrell.
“I would hope that someone would, in the same situation, just do the same thing,” Bull says. “You never know. It could be an idle threat or it could be the next mass shooter than you’re stopping.”
Jarrell pleaded not guilty to terroristic threatening and harassing communications.
