Paterson school officials say a reported child abduction Friday morning along Mercer Street was a false alarm.

There was a report of an abduction around Public School 10. But officials say it was later proven that someone saw a 14-year-old boy being picked up as normal and mistakenly thought he was being taken against his will.

After the initial report, police swarmed to the school.

The investigation that followed showed that no child was ever in danger.
