A report says the Riverhead Police Department will post an officer outside the Riverhead Charter School to direct traffic.
The state DOT has also posted new electronic signs by the school to warn drivers of their speed.
As News 12 has reported, the school's superintendent took on the role of crossing guard because the traffic on Route 25 that runs past the school is a 50 mph speed zone.
He says the school's old crossing guard was struck by a car last year.
