Hoboken scales back on free visitor parking with new meters

The city of Hoboken has new parking zones, which went into effect Monday as part of a plan to scale back on free visitor parking.
The former 4-hour “visitor side” of permit-parking zones will now be turned into 4-hour metered parking zones.
“It’s expected to bring in $1 million in revenue per year for Hoboken’s infrastructure,” says Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “When visitors come enjoy what we have to offer, there is also an investment in our infrastructure and that’s through these meters.”
Visitors will be able to pay for parking using smartphone apps as well.
Residents and anyone with valid parking permits will be able to continue to park for free for an unlimited amount of time in the new zones.
