Investigators have yet to release what caused a deadly fire in Jersey City Friday afternoon.
Family members tell News 12 the victim's name is Carl Johnson.
Firefighters found him inside of his basement apartment located in a multi-family house on Bostwick Avenue.
Investigators say the fire started around noon.
His roommate was out at the time.
"We didn't see no smoke nowhere, so what happened? I don't know, because he was in there by himself with his dog. So I can't say what happened but he was the only one in there with his dog," says John Holman of Jersey City.
No other injuries have reported in this incident.
