A new Amazon fulfillment center is now open in Middlesex County.
The 900,000-square-foot facility in Edison will bring more than 2,000 jobs to the area. It is located on Route 27 and is the eighth Amazon building in the Garden State.
The facility is powered by a solar rooftop with more than 12,500 solar panels. Amazon leaders say that the building also features Amazon robotics technology.
Gov. Phil Murphy, local elected officials and community leaders toured the facility Monday.
Amazon is one of the biggest employers in the state. The company will launch another fulfillment center in Burlington in 2016, bringing an additional 600 new full-time jobs.
Newark remains in the running as a possible location for Amazon’s second headquarters.
