BRIDGEHAMPTON -

If you've been to a Billy Joel concert, you've seen his work. Joel's longtime lighting director has a new show that exhibits his passion for painting.

East Hampton's Steve Cohen is now also an accomplished artist.

"I've been painting with light my whole career and I turned 50 and my husband gave me a set of paints and an easel – and said here," says Cohen.

Some of Cohen's favorite paintings - that he describes as abstract expression - are on display for the first time in the White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton through Sept. 10.
