Lawmakers in Trenton are talking about implementing another gas tax hike as a way of generating revenue for the state's transportation projects.
The 23-cent increase implemented two years ago was a way of generating much needed revenue for the state's transportation projects.
However, if that increase doesn't garner the over $1 billion expected each year, lawmakers can raise the tax.  This time they're talking an additional 2 to 4-cent increase.
Some drivers News 12 spoke with don’t agree with an increase, citing it’s only been a couple of years since they initially raised it.  But others say they understand money needs to be raised to fix roadways and bridges, and they still appreciate having their gas pumped for them.
Another gas tax increase is not definite, but many believe if it's being discussed, it will be reality sooner than later.
