Police: 2 Camden police detectives shot while inside vehicle
Two Camden police detectives were shot as they sat inside their vehicle, according to Chief Scott Thompson.
It happened near the intersection of Broadway and Mount Vernon streets Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.
Thompson says that the detectives were wearing plain clothes and were sitting in an unmarked police vehicle when a man walked up to them and fired 10 to 25 rounds into the windshield.
One of the detectives was able to return fire, but it was unclear if the suspect was injured.
The detectives were taken to Cooper University Hospital and are expected to survive.
Thompson says that the shooting appeared to be unprovoked and says that a search for the suspect is underway.
