A Deptford Township sergeant under investigation for the fatal shooting of an alleged shoplifter has been accused of excessive force in the past.
According to reports, at least two women have filed complaints against Sgt. Kevin Clements.
The first woman claims she was thrown to the ground during an arrest after being pulled over on suspicion of driving intoxicated.
She received $20,000 in a civil lawsuit against Clements.
Another woman alleged the officer punched her in the face while dispersing a crowd at a bar.
The latest was in June, while responding to a shoplifting incident.
Authorities say La Shanda Anderson tried to run over two officers with her car as she tried to get away.
Clements fired his weapon striking Anderson twice.
Authorities say Sgt. Clements fired in self-defense.
