A Clifton woman made city history for the second time Tuesday when she was promoted as the first female fire lieutenant in the Clifton Fire Department.
Angelina Tirado became Clifton’s first female firefighter when she joined the department in 2010. A swearing-in ceremony was held at Clifton City Hall.
“Here at Clifton, I feel like I’m one of the guys, I guess you could say,” Tirado says. “There’s no prejudices or anything. You just have to do the same thing as any new person would do and fit in and get through your job.”
Tirado says that she hopes to one day become the department’s first captain or deputy chief.
