High winds, rain cause tree to fall on Union Township home

High winds and heavy rain are being blamed for uprooting a large oak tree that fell on a Union Township home.
It happened on Brookside Drive Monday afternoon. No one was home at the time, but the homeowner says that the tree crashed through a section of roof in her daughter’s upstairs bedroom.
“We're just happy that none of the kids were in the house. We weren't in the house and where the tree fell, that's the kids' room,” says Natalie Charleton. “We're just happy that they're safe.”
Emergency crews gave the family permission to go into the home to gather some belongings, but the family will be displaced for a time.
No one was hurt.
