CLIFTON -

A family-owned restaurant and bar in Clifton is closing after more than 65 years in business.

Johnny's Bar and Grill on Ackerman Avenue has been sold.

Johnny Penkalski ran the grill, and his mother Emily, tended the bar and cooked.

The establishment was known as a relic of the past, with decor that stayed the same for decades.

They say they felt it was time to sell the property, but it will be sorely missed by locals and the owners.

John believes the bar has been there for more than 100 years.

There were two previous owners before his family took over.
