Prime parking on weekends at Freehold Raceway Mall will soon come at a price. 

It's a pilot program the mall has begun on weekends.

If you choose, you can spend $5 before you even get inside the mall to park in one of its prime, close up spots.

60 spaces in the lot outside the entrance, between Macy's and Nordstrom, are available.

The spaces cover about 1 percent of the mall's available parking spots.

Spaces for handicapped motorists will remain free.
