Business Briefs: Tesla expanding, Microsoft tablet, Snapchat filtersPosted: Updated:
Tesla is considering expanding overseas. According to Bloomberg, the company is planning to open a factory in China that would be able to produce 500,000 cars per year. Tesla will sign an agreement with local authorities in Shanghai to seal the deal. The news comes just one day after Tesla announced plans to raise the price of its Model S and Model X cars in China over recently imposed tariffs.
Microsoft is unveiling its latest device for people on the move. The new Surface Go is a smaller, less powerful version of the Surface Pro with a 10-inch screen and a kickstand. It's also the cheapest tablet Microsoft offers at $399. The Surface Go is meant to compete with Apple's least expensive iPad, which costs $329. Orders will ship next month.
Snapchat is making thousands of filters available through a new feature called “lens explorer.” The tool will give users access to lenses created by others in the community, not just by Snapchat's artists. That includes augmented reality filters. Community-created filters were previously difficult to discover, but will now be available in a separate filter section at the bottom of the app.
