The Teaneck community is grieving the loss of five family members who were killed in a car crash on a Delaware highway.
Officials say 61-year-old Audie Trinidad and his four daughters were killed in the horrific wreck Friday afternoon. The mother of the family, Mary Rose Trinidad, was the sole survivor.
According to relatives, the family had been headed back from a vacation Friday afternoon when the crash happened.
Authorities in Delaware said the family was driving north on Route 1 in their minivan around 4 p.m. when a work truck crossed the center grass median, slammed into another car and then collided with the minivan.
Officials in Delaware have identified the driver of the truck as a Maryland resident, but no charges have been filed.
Mary Rose Trinidad remains in a hospital in Delaware with fractures to her ribs and knees. She is expected to survive her injuries.
In Teaneck Saturday, mourners gathered to remember and mourn Audie Trinidad, 20-year-old daughter Kaitlyn, who also goes by Nikki, 17-year-old Danna and 13-year-old twins Allison and Melissa.
Mary Rose’s cousin said the family is mourning the devastating loss.
"They're so full of love, I close my eyes and all I see are their smiles, every one of them. They were the picturesque family, they really were," says Roselyn Ortiz.
A
