Funeral services were held Wednesday for a New York teen who was stabbed to death outside a bodega in the Bronx.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Belmont section of the Bronx to remember 15-year-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz.
Guzman-Feliz was a member of the NYPD Explorer’s youth program. Family members say that he wanted to be a police detective.
Eight men are now facing charges related to the killing. Officials say that they believe that Guzman-Feliz was wrongfully targeted and that the men were looking for someone else.
Six of the eight suspects were arrested Sunday in Paterson. Authorities say that they believe the home the men were found in is a gang stronghold. The suspects are allegedly members of the Trinitarios street gang.
The six suspects waived extradition and were expected to be brought back to New York to face charges Wednesday. The men are facing murder, manslaughter, gang assault and other assault charges.
