Elected officials gathered at a vigil at the Bronx County Building Friday, demanding that families who have separated at the border be reunited.
Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. says more than 100 affected children are believed to be in the Bronx.
He says the children are being cared for, but it's vital that they are reunited with their family because of the trauma it's causing.
Those rallying today have compared the separation of families at the border to the separation of families during the Holocaust.
A priest just flew back from one of the separation facilities in Texas.

"You cannot know until you walk the walk,” says Father Eric Cruz, with Catholic Charities. “You can't truly appreciate the depth until you see and engage and look at the face what's going on in the heart and feeling the anguish as well as the gratitude that they have that you're there."
The borough president’s office says two organizations, the Catholic Guardian Services and the Lutheran Social Services of New York, are housing the children and providing services.
Both organizations are contracted through the federal government and have worked with unaccompanied children in the past.
