A video taken by a family in Rhode Island shows their 2-year-old boy climbing up a "locked" ladder leading to an above ground, outdoor pool.

His parents said he climbed it once, and when he did it again, they recorded him to send a message to other parents.

"You could do all these things, safety precautions, but your eyes, you have to keep them on them at all times," says Tonya Sostre, the child’s mother. “You think you're safe and it's not the case because it’s not safe."

The family says they reached out to the company that makes the ladder to suggest a change in design.
