BELMAR -

Authorities say a man whose body was found under the boardwalk in Belmar apparently died of a drug overdose.

According to officials, police pulled the body Saturday morning from under the boardwalk.

Mayor Brian Magovern says the man died of an apparent overdose, where Ninth Avenue meets the beach.

Police raised a white sheet between two benches as the Monmouth County medical examiner snapped photos of the taped-off scene.

The area was clear Saturday by 8:15 a.m.

The name of the victim and his hometown have not been released.
