A Williamsburg film festival is honoring Pride Month by highlighting and celebrating works done by and for members of the LGBT community.

It's the fourth annual My True Colors Festival, but just the third year organizers are screening films that aim to fight for social justice and cultural diversity through the arts. It's part of a partnership with BRIC TV.  

It kicked off last week with a reception and presentations. 

The film festival highlights a series of video stories based on real-life experiences. 

Thursday night's screening of the film "Saturday Church" is about a young teen struggling with his gender identity and religion after the death of his father. 

Organizers say the festival celebrates the work of international filmmakers to demonstrate important LGBT and related issues around the world. The co-founders say the festival boasts a safe space to explore these issues.

The festival runs until June 24.
