Toys R Us workers staged a store takeover Sunday in protest of their lack of severance pay as the toy chain prepares to shut down.
Employees chanted as they marched into the store in Union, where they handed out balloons to children and then walked outside to continue their protest.
Most of the 33,000 Toys R Us workers will not receive severance pay. Some of the workers have been with the company for more than two decades.
"We deserve something for this," says employee Mary Jane Williams. "Some of us are here 20 to 30 years. We want them to know that we feel we deserve something."
The employees say they want to see a change in the law so that it doesn't happen to other retail employees.
