More options made available for transgender inmates in CT

Transgender inmates will now have more choices in Connecticut.

A new law will allow inmates to be placed in a prison based on which gender they identify with.

This law is reportedly the first of its kind in the nation.

One trans-female inmate says she hopes that the new law will help, but believes real change will only come when society as a whole accepts transgender
people.

The law goes into effect July 1.
