Newark police officers come to aid of woman attacked by dog

Two police officers came to the aid of a woman who was being attacked by a dog in Newark.
The attack happened around 3 a.m. on the 200-block of Hunterdon Street.
According to police, officers patrolling the area noticed the incident, and when the woman ran toward the officers, they fired their weapons and struck the animal.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment.
There is no word yet on her condition.
The wounded dog has been transported to the ASPCA and is in their care.
