Students, teachers injured in school bus crash taken to 6 hospitals

Over 40 students, teachers and adults inured in a school bus crash on Interstate 80 in Mount Olive Thursday were taken to six hospitals.
Gov. Phil Murphy said that 43 people on the bus and the driver of the dump truck were hurt in the crash. Two others were killed.
Of the injured, 21 people were taken to Morristown Medical Center, 10 were taken to Hackettstown Medical Center, three were taken to St. Clare’s Dover Hospital, four were taken to St. Clare’s Denville Hospital, three were taken to University Hospital in Newark and two were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson.
Murphy said that some of the patients suffered critical injuries and had to have surgery.
A teacher and one student were killed as a result of the crash.
As of Friday, hospital officials say that many of the patients have been released.
The bus contained fifth-graders from East Brook Middle School in Paramus. It was one of three school buses on the way to Waterloo Village in Stanhope for a field trip.
