The heavy rain and strong winds pulled down trees and power lines in Boonton.

A transformer explosion also knocked out power to many residents, and streets had to be closed as police and utility crews cleaned up the mess.

Some families were left to stay with loved ones who had power and AC.

"All of a sudden it got black and that was it," says Randi Gaetano of Boonton. "No power and the furniture blown off deck, glass shattered all over."

No injuries have been reported in the town.
