Police warn Haworth neighborhood of coyote sighting

Posted: Updated:
HAWORTH -

A neighborhood in Haworth is on high alert after police warned residents about a coyote sighting.

The coyote was spotted along Park Street, where one side of the streets contains homes and the other has woods.

At least one resident says he’s seen them there before. Other locals say the animals venture out in search of small prey like squirrels and chipmunks.

The area is near the Oradell Reservoir, which is home to a lot of wildlife.

Police are taking the coyote presence seriously, asking people in the area to not leave small children or pets out alone.
