Trinity Catholic High School hosted a distracting driving event Wednesday for students to learn the importance of driving safely.
Organizers say the "Distractology" event included a mobile simulator designed to show new drivers first-hand how dangerous it is to text and drive.
Educators say there are many distractions on the road that students need to learn to avoid.
"With young drivers, we want to give them good habits early, we want to teach them safe modes of transportation, we want to provide them the opportunity to be safe both on and off campus," says Principal David Williams. "As they begin to drive, we want to make sure that we're preparing them as best as we possibly can."
Students could sign up for 45 minute sessions in the simulator.
Organizers say over 50 students participated in the class.
