‘Bark for Life’ raises money for American Cancer Society

Hundreds of dog owners gathered Sunday for Bark for Life, a dog-friendly spinoff of Relay for Life that honors cancer fighters and recognizes the dogs that are helping fighters to overcome the disease.
The walk was held at Mannino Park in Old Bridge and raised more than $16,000 for the American Cancer Society.
For those without a dog, shelters like Sammy's Hope were on hand, ready to help families adopt dogs for next year.
Organizers say their next event to benefit the Cancer Society will be a Relay for Life at Lombardi Field on May 19.
