BC Studio celebrates 35th anniversary with album, concert
An iconic Gowanus music studio has released an album and organized a concert with some of its most notable clients to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
BC Studio owner Martin Bisi first moved to New York in 1979 with his band, Material. He then bought some recording equipment and the studio was born.
It was initially named OAO for Operation All Out and was later renamed BC Studio.
BC Studio has hosted numerous well-known bands throughout the years, including Sonic Youth. It was also the place where Herbie Hancock's “Rockit” was recorded.
To celebrate the studio's 35 years of history, Bisi has been collaborating with several others on an album for nearly two years.
They are coming together for a release party in Greepoint on Friday, with 15 artists performing.

The studio's anniversary album, “BC 35,” will be in stores starting on Friday.
Go HERE for an extended interview with Bisi.
