The rough weather Monday left significant damage along the coast in Ocean County, including Bay Head Beach.
According to officials, the storm ended up worse than the four nor'easters in March.
The high surf exposed a sea wall privately funded by the beach-front residents.
The locals fought against a federal beach replenishment project, taking their case to court and eventually losing against the DEP
Mayor Bill Curtis says he's upset the project is now scheduled to start in July and run through September.
"I've made a point -- it's affecting businesses, it's affecting rentals that then people asked for it's a real adverse effect to Bay Head and they couldn't wait until after Labor Day," says Mayor Curtis
The project is already underway in neighboring Mantoloking and is supposed to add 22-foot high dunes, as well as several hundred yards of extra sand.
