SOUTH BRUNSWICK -

South Brunswick Mayor Christopher Killmurray has died.

The cause of death is unclear, but News 12 is told that he passed away Sunday morning.

Killmurray had served as a councilman from 2003 until last year, when he succeeded former Mayor Frank Gambatese, who also passed away while serving in office.

Killmurray is being remembered for his commitment to the township and passion for public service. Flags in the township are flying at half-staff.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Killmurray is survived by his wife, Karen, and four children.

Reports say that Deputy Mayor Charles Carley will serve as acting mayor.
