Some young athletes are taking part in the Special Olympics New Jersey Spring Games.

The bowling competition kicked off Sunday morning for the New Jersey Special Olympics Spring competition.

Ages 8 and up will be competing.

Organizers say they are expecting around 300 athletes to take part in the games.

They say these games are about focusing on ability and not disability.

The bowling is the culminating event of the spring competition. There has already been a basketball competition prior to the bowling.

This weekend is the second of two weekends in which the games are held.

Prizes and awards will be given out.

Organizers say 99 percent of participants will receive an award.
