Wandering peacock turns heads in Suffolk neighborhood

A peacock has been strutting around a Suffolk neighborhood.
According to neighbors, the brightly colored bird has been hanging around a house on Yaphank-Middle Island Road. They say it showed up sometime on Thursday and has just been milling about ever since.
It's unclear where the creature came from, or if it has an owner. But people on the block are enjoying the visitor's company.
"I opened up my front door, I was getting ready to go out, and he just strolls along my front yard," says neighbor Leslie Clay.
Some are expressing concern for the peacock's safety. Temperatures have been on the chilly side, and the bird has been hanging out along a main road where cars often travel at a fast clip.
Neighbors say they've reached out to a nearby animal rescue group, but it's unclear if or when somebody will attend to the bird.
