ROXBURY -

Two Roxbury High School students are facing charges for allegedly posting threatening messages against the school on Snapchat.

The threat was reported to police around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. It was the last day of an abbreviated spring break for the Roxbury School District.

The Snapchat video showed a picture of a gun, along with the caption “I just can’t wait to get back from Spring Break.”

Roxbury police say that they are treated the video as a threat, rather than a hoax. The 16- and 17-year-old students are now facing several charges, including making terroristic threats, cyber harassment and causing a false public alarm.

Roxbury Superintendent Loretta Radulic addressed parents in the district in an email now posted on the district's website.  It reads in part, "The safety of our students and staff remains our first priority... we would like to thank the individuals who brought this concern to the proper authorities, supporting our belief to say something when you see something."

Security at the schools was increased Wednesday as a precaution.

The two teens are in custody at a juvenile detention center.
