Elizabeth police exchange shots with group following fatal shooting

Two police officers in Elizabeth exchanged gunfire with a group of people following the fatal shooting of a man.
According to authorities, two officers were on routine patrol Sunday around 2:30 a.m. when they heard gunshots coming from a parking lot area.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they encountered the group and determined they were involved in the shooting.
At least one member of the group shot at the officers, who returned fire.
Neither officer was struck, and it's not known if any of the group members were hit.
The group then drove away in a vehicle that went into Newark.
They all remained at large Monday.
After the shooting occurred, other officers responded to the parking lot and found the body of Daniel Louis, 26, of Irvington.
Authorities declined further comment.
