Woman arrested after officer is hurt in chase

A woman is facing charges after a foot chase landed a police officer in the hospital.
Toms River police say Loraine Niocolosi jumped out a car after it crashed into the Shop-Rite on Route 37 West Friday. She had been a passenger in the car.
Authorities say an officer later spotted her and gave chase. The two tumbled down an embankment, and the officer was injured, requiring more than 25 stitches.
Officials say Niocolosi then jumped into the water near the parkway. She had to be rescued by boat and then was taken into custody.
She is now facing charges. It's not clear why she fled.
