The annual "Brave-the-Shave" fundraiser was held Saturday in North Plainfield.

Volunteers had all their hair shaved off to raise money for pediatric cancer and benefit the Saint Baldrick's Foundation.

Funding goes toward clinical trial and research grants.

North Plainfield firefighters are grateful for the opportunity to help patients who need it most.

"Cancer is relentless, and it's a miserable disease and this is a fun way to stand with those kids that are inspiring us with their will to fight,” says North Plainfield firefighter Robert Beattie. “So it’s a nice day in March, it’s spring, it's a meaningful gesture, it's a sign of solidarity, it's a small sacrifice with big impact."

Over the years, the North Plainfield event has raised more than $1 million.
