The fourth major snowstorm to hit New Jersey this month knocked out power to thousands of state residents.

A spokesperson for JCP&L says 72,000 of the company’s customers were without power at the height of the storm. The utility company expected full restoration by 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

“Although our service territory was spared the brunt of this storm, southern New Jersey wasn’t so lucky,” PSE&G senior vice president of electric and gas operations John Latka said in a statement. “We restored power to about 7,300 customers and are now in a position to assist our neighboring utility do the same for their customers.”

Wednesday’s storm knocked over trees and power lines and dropped over a foot of snow on some parts of the state. Crews were out cleaning up the mess Thursday.

State officials say that the damage and outages from Wednesday’s storm were not as significant as the previous nor’easters this month.

The month’s first two nor’easters that impacted New Jersey left over 400,000 utility customers without power. Some New Jersey residents were left in the dark for more than a week following those storms.
