Community hosts March for Safe Streets after deaths of 2 children

Community members marched together Monday night to demand change after the crash that killed two young children.
A 1-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were killed at the corner of Ninth Street and Fifth Avenue last week. Two 34-year-old mothers crossing the street were also injured. Investigators say they are trying to determine if a medical episode caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Records show the driver does have a history of driving through stop signs and red lights.
People at the march said they want to see the city lower speed limits, add speed bumps and hold drivers accountable.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation and a spokesperson said that they are looking into some short- and long-term improvements to the intersection.
