Business owners at the Jersey Shore say that a series of snowstorms this month is hurting their business.
Two powerful nor’easters dropped over 2 feet of snow on the Garden State and another snowstorm expected overnight should bring several more inches of snow.
Tony Imbimbo with the Silverball Museum in Asbury Park says that they have had to delay putting out some of their outdoor attractions due to the weather.
“We have little kiddie rides that we put out,” Imbimbo says. “We start now, getting ready for the summer. We postponed it at least until the end of the month because of the weather.”
And although the majority of the Silverball Museum is indoors, Imbimbo says that the weather is keeping people in their own homes.
In Point Pleasant Beach, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk marketing director Toby Wolf says that the March snow has impacted their plans to get the boardwalk summer-ready as well.
“They’re in the process of bringing all the rides back to the boardwalk, getting them set up, getting them inspected so that we’re ready to open March 24,” she says.
But another nor’easter could stop that from happening.
“We always open Palm Sunday weekend, so now you have the early Easter compounded by storm after storm after storm…so it’s frustrating,” says Wolf.
The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories ahead of the latest storm.
