Boil water advisory lifted for Edison, Fords

EDISON -

A boil water advisory has been lifted for sections of Edison and Fords that were impacted by a water main break.

Middlesex Water Company issued the advisory Tuesday evening to residents in the Clara Barton section of Edison and the Fords section of Woodbridge after a 48-inch water main broke near the intersection of Glenville Road and the Boulevard of the Eagles in Edison.

Officials with Middlesex Water Company say that residents in the affected areas should still run their water faucets for 3-5 minutes to flush out the pipes before consuming the water.

Residents should also empty and clean out automatic ice makers and water chillers, as well as empty their hot water heaters if the temperature is set below 113 degrees.

The water company said updates will be posted on its website and on its Facebook page and on Twitter. Customers seeking more information may also call the company at 732-634-1500.
