New Jersey’s Department of Transportation has begun a statewide pothole repair campaign.
Steve Schapiro of the Department of Transportation said, "The past five fiscal years we have repaired more than 218,000 potholes in a year.  So far through this last week, this fiscal year, we've repaired more than 112,000 potholes."
Schapiro also attributed the number of potholes to the combination of early winter and the frequent fluctuation of temperatures.
Schapiro added that the Department has repaired more potholes this January than any of the past five Januaries.
