Police: Man seriously injured in hit-and-run

Suffolk police say a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run Saturday morning.
It happened on North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst around 6:15 a.m. Police say they first received a call about a man walking in the northbound lanes of the roadway near Hazel Boulevard, and then a few moments later, a different caller reported that the man was lying in the roadway.
Police say the man had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
The 27-year-old man, who is a Brooklyn resident, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with a head injury and multiple broken bones, according to police.
