A 14-year-old male student is facing charges following an investigation into a threat made on social media, Franklin Township police said.
The Franklin Township Police Department in Somerset County said members of the Franklin Township Board of Education contacted the agency late Thursday after learning about a threat made against Franklin High School on social media.
Authorities said it was quickly determined that the threat was not credible and that students were never in any danger.
As a result of the investigation, the 14-year-old student was taken into custody and charged with making terroristic threats, Franklin Township police said. He was processed and released to his parents.
Police said that school officials suspended the student from school.
