Rainy weekend causes problems for motorists

The rain drenched weekend caused problems for motorists around the Garden State.

Commuters were hindered by standing water that collected in the middle of roadways after the weekend's heavy rainfall.

Travelers drove slow and steady though the patches of ponds to ensure their cars didn't sustain water damage.

The rain also broke off tree limbs and caused flooding in Johnson Park in Piscataway, and increased the nearby Raritan River's water level so much that it eventually crested, causing flooding and rain-soaked grass.

Although the rain left the area, drivers were urged to take caution on the roads during the Monday morning rush.
