Police: ‘Suspicious device’ prompts evacuation of Hightstown HS
A “suspicious device” found in a high school bathroom prompted officials to evacuate the school as a precaution.
Hightstown police say that a “rudimentary constructed device…consisting of computer parts” was found in the boys bathroom at Hightstown High School.
Since officials were unsure what the device was, they evacuated the school as a precaution. Students were taken to another school in the district and were given food and other provisions as needed.
The New Jersey State Police bomb squad was called in, searched the school, and found that the device did not pose any danger. No other suspicious items were found.
It was not immediately known who placed the device in the bathroom or for what purpose.
