Veterans and active members of the military will soon have expanded access to health care in Bergen County.
State officials made the announcement Monday at the New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus.
The program will broaden the pool of veterans and active duty military personnel eligible to receive medical care at New Bridge Medical Center. It will also expand the number of treatments and procedures available to retired and active duty service members.
Sen. Cory Booker was on hand for the announcement. He spoke about the impact of veterans in the United States.
“This is the powerful thing I've learned in my years of public service. That our veterans are not charity cases. Our veterans are capable. Our veterans are strong. They have something to offer our community at every level of service,” Booker said.
The program comes thanks to an agreement between New Bridge Medical Center, Bergen County and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
