Couple injured after being struck by car in Toms River

TOMS RIVER -

Two people are in the hospital after being hit by a car in Toms River. 

Police say the driver hit the couple in their 50s that was walking along Fischer Boulevard around 9 p.m. Friday. 

The man is in stable condition. The woman suffered more serious injuries. 

Police say the couple were not at a crosswalk when they were hit.

Investigators say the driver did not appear to be impaired or distracted at the time of the incident.
